Counter culture

As a novice blogger, I – as I'm sure most novice bloggers do – frequently check my counter to see how I'm going. Other than a huge spike when Tim Blair linked to me, my stats have been nothing to celebrate. Yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to discover an unusual increase in activity, originating from a link at a Guardian newsblog post by Mark Tran on the Bolton nomination:
Of course, it is Bolton's contemptuous attitude towards international treaties and multilateral organisations that wins favour with the right. The RWDB blog quotes approvingly from a Right Web profile that calls Bolton a "treaty killer" and believes he is the right man for the job.
While I am flattered that Mark Tran linked to my post, he obviously didn't pick up its tongue in cheek nature.

When I heard about Bolton's nomination I Googled looking for a profile at a lefty site and came up with Right Web, part of the Chomsky-heavy International Relations Center. So that there could be no argument about context I copied Bolton's entire profile and posted it, bolding the elements that would rile lefties and make fellow RWDBs chuckle.

Maybe my attempt at humour was a bit too nuanced for Mark Tran; perhaps my post just didn't deliver the humour tinged truth I intended. Either way, I seem to have succeeded in riling at least one lefty.

If you haven't visited a lefty site lately and need a refresher on their world view go here and scroll down to comments. Lefties, what a serious, shrill bunch.

Thanks for the advise! Reading Al-Guardian and the following discussion cheered me up. What a bunch of nutters!
