THUGOCRACY ALLEGED

Lefty "historian" Howard Zinn manages to squeeze every anti-Bush talking-point ever, including this oddity, into one Guardian article :
The Bush administration, unable to capture the perpetrators of the September 11 attacks, invaded Afghanistan, killing thousands of people and driving hundreds of thousands from their homes. Yet it still does not know where the criminals are.
Criminals?

Is it a crime to pass yourself off as a historian?

I think Zinn's point is that Washington has reacted strongly to a terrorist attack on its territory, but has directed its energies in the wrong place. That is, terrorism continues and the perpetrators/planners of the attacks against the US have not been apprehended. That sounds about right, doesn't it? As far as I am aware, Al Qaeda is still out there and bombing Afghanis and Iraqis has done little to bring terrorism to an end. Why is it such an affront to you that Zinn see things a bit less positively than the offical government line?
