RUSSIAN GAS CAUSES NUCLEAR REACTION

Despite just 12% of Europeans favouring the construction of new nuclear power-stations, Lithuania plans to build one. The Lituanians are worried about their future energy vulnerability, what with the new Russian-German gas pipeline intentionally bypassing Baltic states. An unnamed Lithuanian diplomat explains:
"Of course, we are still hoping to be included in the pipeline, but we shall have to wait and see," the contact indicated.

He added that the Baltics' energy "vulnerability" is not well understood by the commission and other EU states.
This is, of course a diplomatic game: the Russian-German pipeline was routed around the Baltic states because Baltic energy vulnerability is understood all too well by the big boys wanting to dominate Europe. Let's see who blinks first.
