NSW electricity bills skyrocket
New South Wales electricity consumers will pay much more for power:
The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) says electricity prices for the average New South Wales resident will increase by 17.6 per cent from July. The reason for the increase:
New South Wales Premier Barry O'Farrell says the State Government will seek compensation from the Commonwealth for the bill increases.Green power isn't cheap; and just wait until the carbon tax flows through to users.
"I'm told between $80 and $100 of these increases are directly due to federal renewable schemes. It seems unfair that state consumers and state governments should be responsible for costs that are incurred by the Federal Government," he said.
