AUSTRALIA'S BIGGEST ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGE

Dromedaries:
Dr Glen Edwards from the Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife Service estimates there are now between 500,000 and 800,000 camels roaming central Australia. They're damaging fences, taking food and water from native wildlife, and chewing into fragile flora.

One-humped camels like these were introduced into Australia by the Afghans in the mid-1800s to lug material across the vast inland. By the 1920s, mechanical transport made the camels redundant and they were left to fend for themselves in the wild.
It's estimated the population increases by up to 100,000 animals a year. Anyone for a camel burger?
