DANISH CARTOON CONTROVERSY STILL RAGES
The Mohammed cartoons controversy continues to rage in Denmark and has now spread to Norway:
A group of Danish Muslim leaders is currently touring the Muslim world distributing a report on the cartoons. This report contains a few embellishments:
On Tuesday the Christian newspaper Magazinet published 12 cartoons depicting the Muslim prophet Muhammad. Magazinet did so to support the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten that published the cartoons [see them here] last September, but has since received terrorist threats and huge international criticism, including pressure from organisations such as the United Nations and the European Union. Now Magazinet has received threats via e-mail from around the world. The cartoons were withdrawn.
A group of Danish Muslim leaders is currently touring the Muslim world distributing a report on the cartoons. This report contains a few embellishments:
The report contains 15 pictures instead of 12. The first of the three additional pictures, which are of dismal quality, shows Muhammad as a pedophile deamon [see it here], the second shows the prophet with a pigsnout [here] and the third depicts a praying Muslim being raped by a dog [here].The source of these additions is unclear:
Akhmad Akkari, spokesman of the 21 Danish Muslim organizations which organized the tour, explained that the three drawings had been added to “give an insight in how hateful the atmosphere in Denmark is towards Muslims.” Akkari claimed he does not know the origin of the three pictures. He said they had been sent anonymously to Danish Muslims. However, when Ekstra Bladet asked if it could talk to these Muslims, Akkari refused to reveal their identity. This controversy is nowhere near finished yet.

It's a pity the Norwegians appear to no longer have Viking blood flowing in their veins. Unlike the plucky Danes.
Annabelle N Smith, please think back on what you've said.Mocking any religion is never good.Mocking one's religion is mostly done by the christians unlike buddhist, muslims & hindus. The problem is that the world is so used to seeing the christians mocking their own religion (sadly) that when they do that to others, they expect acceptance.
askewku, Muslims are the one who openly say that there is no God but Allah and Mohammad is his pophet. In the middle ages they killed and converted a lot of people.Modern day Iran did not have any Muslims but they converted and killed all the people there so Zorosthrians living there had to hide in India. Muslims are most intolerent people on the Earth.
It is sad to witness the lack of knowledge in the Western media and among many citizens in the West about Islam and Prophet Muhammad. My humble request to the bloggers is to read history and read the Qur'an and the life of Prophet Muhammad to find the facts. Suffice to mention that Muhammad warned his followers against hurting any non-Muslim citizen. In the Muslim World today there are more Churches and Synagogues than there are Mosques in the West. Just visit Cairo, Damascus, Beirut or Amman. Non-Muslims are safer in any Muslim city than in their own countries. I urge you to read what some of the great writers and philosophers of Europe said about Muhammad and Islam such as Goethe, Tolstoy or Voltaire. Muslims are not without faults and they have always learned and accepted criticism from others. Let us face the facts what is happening in the Western media is not criticism or freedom of expression, it is libel, insults and ridicule. It is unimaginable that such insults could be published by any mainstream newspapers in any Muslim country about any minority. It seems that Europe and the West still have a long way to define tolerance and freedom.
Amin, are you on the same planet as the rest of us? "Suffice to mention that Muhammad warned his followers against hurting any non-Muslim citizen." "Non-Muslims are safer in any Muslim city than in their own countries." Where have you been the last century?
This sort of rubbish is bound to happen when everyone belives different fairytales
Muslums need to lighten-up. Most of the rest of the world can see the humor in how they are perceived by others. This is exactly why Muslums are seen as extremists.
mohamed, jesus, buddha, were men of peace. they said in many and not so many words, love your neighbour. disrespecting someone's religion no matter how you paint it and categorise it as being "freedom of expression", still remains as being disrespectful. i was in egypt recently, after much apprehension of visiting an arabic country...with all the terrorism and whatnot that is constantly on the news (western news, which at times border on what one could term as "propaganda"). however, in egypt and for the information of people who haven't visited an arabic country (and for me egypt is a reflection of all arab countries, obviously with all countries having their specificities), there are as Amin has said all religions. all believers of a particular faith are respected, and allowed to express and practice their faith. in fact i came to admire the fervent religious nature of the muslims in egypt. perhaps being so, they expect the same religious nature of other denominations, and of course there are many devoted christians, buddhists, hindus! however, for those who say they are of a religion and actually do not even profess their faith and actually are sometimes even ashamed of it, and then look upon those who are brave enough to do so as extremists, and strange psycho people should really look at themselves and remove the proverbial log from their eyes! jesus called such people...the pharysees, "hypocrites"! christian devotion in the western world was much more fervent in the middle ages as someone wrote...and would someone have disrespected jesus then, would have faced the same wrath of the devoted people! it is a sad fact that the western world has turned away from GOD and now it is not enough to disrespect their very own (hypocrites) religion (christianity), but they choose to ridicule other's (such as islam) and expect the people who are devoted followers to take it as part of "freedom of expression"! this insidious disrespect of God-fearing god-loving tender friendly people can only be seen as the work of Iniquity...which is at work in the world...and causing the persecution of God-fearing people! take heart men of peace, and do not retaliate to Iniquity, and be like jesus, mohamed, khrisna, buddha, and offer love, peace, and the other cheek, for the reward to you is not here on earth but a place next to GOD as HIS children! God bless! Asalam'aleykum. From a christian who is seeking HIM everyday.
what double standards! and again what hypocrisy! for jack and chanky who seem so well versed on the propagandist messages sent out to support the actions of the western world...can i ask you if you know about the actions of extremist "christians" as you know so much about the actions of extremist "muslims"! no self respecting religion condones any act of violence and i agree that a lot of it has been done anyway in God's name...however, why are we so one-sided in our judgements? why do we use such double standards? we are talking about disrespecting our fellow brothers! why should there be such hate and venom emanating from the supposed supporters of "freedom and peace"? do we know what atrocities have been commited under the star spangled banner? do we know...? what is our SOLE source of information? i leave these questions to my fellow brothers. how easy it is to remove the speck from our neighbours eyes when there exists a log in ours! jesus said HYPOCRITES! my brothers pointedly failed to mention...the prevailing failure of their society towards devotion to God! under the name of "freedom of speech" what atrocities have been commited against God's word? under the name of "freedom of expression" what disgusting acts have been done and propagated? under our supposed "freedom" haven't we forgotten that we should be doing God's Will on earth and not our own? what a perverted idea we have of our concept of "free people"! free to do what? disrepect each other? denigrate our fellow brothers? where is the supposed love we should have for our neighbour? these questions i would like to know the answer to. again i say to my fellow god-fearing brothers and sisters, no matter what your religion, to take heart, and not to retaliate to continued persecution, however insidious and justifiable it may seem to the people who do not see their hypocrisy. from a God-fearing christian who is ever seeking Him also man of peace.
