THREE BOYS CALLED EILEEN

A trio of Pakistani bank robbers are each to have a hand and a foot amputated as penalty for robbing a bank. Not to panic:
The amputations were ordered under an Islamic law called the Hudood Ordinance, which allows amputations, whippings and public hangings.

However, these sentences are often struck down by higher courts when they are approached by the defendants. Human-rights groups have been demanding the repeal of the law.
