Americans' craving for junk food is understandable:
A report released today by a marijuana public policy analyst contends that the market value of pot produced in the U.S. exceeds $35 billion — far more than the crop value of such heartland staples as corn, soybeans and hay, which are the top three legal cash crops.The report also explains California:
California is responsible for more than a third of the cannabis harvest, with an estimated production of $13.8 billion that exceeds the value of the state's grapes, vegetables and hay combined...There's a reason why it's called dope.

There are known references to dope as an unspecified stupifying agent as far back as the 1880s. Nice try at a conspiracy theory, though.
What part exactly is supposed to a conspiracy theory JF? Nice attempt at a catch-all dismissal though.
I didn't say there was no evidence that the drug stupified people. That's one of the reasons why it has been used for 10,000-plus years to induce trances and spiritual states. There are written records of cannibas oil and seeds being used as a stupifying agent dating back thousands of years.
The word 'dope' like the words 'the devil's weed' were heavily marketed in government antidrug ads in Life Magazine, Time and newsreels through the 1930s. It's not exactly a secret, nor is it a conspiracy theory.
