My sister bought me (what must be) a non-special edition JO flavour shaker and I've used it only a handful of times. Fine for herbs and great if you add a bit of olive oil but anything really coarse (rock salt and peppercorns and dried capers, for example) and the ball tends to get caught up at the narrow end. I fear it's going to turn into one of those gadgets that lives in the bottom drawer - especially when the mortar and pestle lives on the bench.
