PURELY PARASITICAL
The Australian today publishes an editorial describing sites such as Crikey as "parasitical", in that they rely in large part on print publications as fodder. Without realising what he's done PP boy Scott Bridges parasitically posts the whole Australian editorial simply adding:
Here’s The Australian’s editorial today. The PP boyz need to think before they type. What are the chances?

Isn't that plagiarism?
I think Scott was going for ironic humour. Probably so was Iain, commenting on a post describing something as "parasitical".
Daddy dave is onto something here: much of the mass media has become lazily parasitical, journalism is not the foot-slogging caper it once was. Three-quarters of the content of metro dailies is either pulled off the wire, rewritten from press releases or cannibalised from other media outlets. TV newsrooms are less than half the size they were in the 80s. 3AW's news department these days is a bloke scanning through the Herald Sun.
Journalists these days are collectors, collaters and commentators - they do very little "reporting" in its traditional sense. Hartigan getting on his high horse about "navel-gazing" and the demarcations between newspapers and blogs is rich indeed.
Who cares what you think, Idget?
yeah I'm with Bridgit... I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a joke.
