Israel attacks Gaza aid fleet

Or so screams the al Jazeera headline. By all accounts Israeli naval personnel boarded the "aid" flotilla rather than attacking it. Exactly what happened next is far from certain, with those sympathetic to the Palestinians claiming unprovoked fire erupted from the boarders whereas Israeli military sources claim to have opened fire only after being attacked. Either way these events further complicate an already diabolical situation.

Blogging from the opposite side of the planet Antony Loewenstein is certain he knows what happened, terming the events:

Murder on the high seas

Maybe; maybe not.

The Al Jazeera provides evidence. Where's yours? Did Daniel Lewis send you an email?

"Murder on the high seas"

Well, if you are referring to the English language...

The Sydney Morning Herald (hardly a good friend of Israel) reported:

"Israeli marine commandos had opened fire after being attacked with axes and knives by a number of the passengers on board the aid ships."

Aid huh? Standby for Loewenstein et al to cry crocodile tears for these brave "peace protesters"...

Of course if they tried to sail into Iranian waters, they'd be shot. If they flew a plane into American airspace, they'd be shot down also. Yet they honestly seem surprised. If anything, Israel has shown typical restraint and risked its own soldiers considering it could have simply sunk the lot of them.

There's a video on Youtube of an Israeli radio operator advising the boat to land in Ashdod and have their goods delivered. The response amounts to 'f*** you'. These people knew what they were getting themselves in for.

Such insight from dribbling racist and full-time letter writer, Dan Lewis.
What Dan doesn't mention is that the IDF attacked the flotilla on international waters, in which the crew had every right to defend themselves against trained killers armed to the hilt.

If there's a positive to come out of this senseless massacre, it's that it allows Becky to indulge his mancrush for Ant L.

International waters. Pretty simple concept I would have thought.

And the "knives" were found in the galley. Unusual for a sea-growing craft to have knives in the galley, isn't it?

Oh, right.

"By all accounts Israeli naval personnel boarded the "aid" flotilla rather than attacking it."

And the ten people now confirmed dead died of natural causes, did they?

I love it when people who support Jihadis and say nothing about suicide bombing of Jewish civilians, all of a sudde claim to be experts on international law.

Fact:

The San Remo Manual on International Law as applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea clearly specifies Israel was well within the boundaries of international law.

Section 67b states: "Neutral merchant vessels ... May not be attacked unless they are believed on reasonable grounds to be ... Breaching a blockade, and after prior warning they intentionally and clearly refuse to stop, or intentionally and clearly resist visit, search or capture."

Refer earlier link I posted wherein Israel clearly warned off the boats and they defied the very generous offer made.

The Gaza Flotilla were fully aware of the blockade and had a stated intention of breaching it. They knew what they were doing. They were clearly warned by Israeli ships and proceeded anyway.

Care to give us any more lectures on International Law? Or are you happy instead to simply parrot slogans with no understanding of the real world.

The blockade is itself illegal, you moron. The area in which the ship was at the time of attack was not within the IDF's jurisdiction. The piece of law you're citing has turned up on every frothing wingnut blog in the past 24 hours, and it requires so many conditional clauses to be true (elided in your citation, I'm afraid) that it certainly does not apply here.

Boarding a vessel in international waters is, prima facie, an illegal act, akin to piracy. If someone hits you with a broomstick as you board, and you reply with gunfire, I'd say you've made things a bit worse. If I was Turkish, I'd consider it an act of war.

Turn it up.

Have a look at the video taken (my previous link). Most of them were anything but kitchen knives. Were the dozens of batons and clubs also kitchen utensils? How about the slingshots and ammo. Used for cake decoration maybe?

You're just a liar and you take us for fools.

First three comments on Loewy's post:

1. S’pose it is a variation of the the Howard policy
2. The local Jewish establishment is implicated.
3. The tactic is to board, shoot the first few on sight.

They may have different narratives to make this story fit, yet they share the name level of delusion.

Chistery, one comment: "The local Jewish establishment is implicated" is interesting.

It effectively holds Australian Jews responsible for Israeli government policy and actions. This is no real surprise and antisemitic activity always elevates whenever Israel is in the news. However it goes against Loewenstein's dishonest claim that you can somehow separate Israel, the Jewish state, from Judaism.

Imagine the outcry if Lakemba Mosque was set on fire because of daily Islamist atrocities overseas.

And yet, Australia had the highest rate of synagogue arson in the world since WWII. Anyone hear about it? Probably not...

There is an incredible amount of anti-semitism on Lowenstein's blog. Instead of referring to Israeli soldiers he talks about 'Jewish commandoes'. No one would ever refer to the ethnicity or religion of an American or British soldier, and he obviously has no evidence about the religious or cultural identity of the soldiers (Israelis are not only Jewish).

What is his game and why does he allow comments like 'Caroline Glick is American born. That is all you need to know'. The casual anti-semitism and racism is appalling. Many on the left align themselves with and embrace the anti-semites in their movement, that is bad enough. Lowenstein, despite his claimed Jewish identity, is clearly intent on joining in the hatred of Jews.

What a sad, troubled and worrying man.
