Huge turnout for Sydney Wikileaks rally

Lots of Leftists lofting banners and costumed protesters at today's Sydney Wikileaks rally. The general public – those gainfully employed and with real lives – took no notice, however.

Antony Loewenstein was, of course, a keynote speaker. What better reason to stay home and mow the lawn?

Update

Lowenstein [sic] speaks truth to power:
The key issue is - what is Wikileaks telling us about the world? What are the documents Wikileaks is releasing saying to us about how our governments behave? And what is says is very, very clear - confirming in some way what many of us might have thought before - governments, our governments who we elect lie to us all the time. There is a litany of examples - the middle east, Africa, Asia, Australia - governments say one thing, journalists repeat that lie and Wikileaks says something else. And you would think - and you'd be wrong - that the journalists themselves who write those kind of lies and repeat the government policy over the years and who have been wrong would come out and say mea culpa. That has not happened.
Right, as if Loewenstein has admitted to any of his manifold errors, ever.

Did Ant mention that WikiLeaks also revealed the evil of regimes he supports like Iran which moved weapons to the Hizbullah in Red Crescent ambulances so that they could fire them at his fellow Jews into Northern Israel during the Second Lebanon War?

Oops, then again, if you read Ant's piece of tripe laughingly described as a book about his Israel question you might find that Hizbullah was shooting at Lebanese territory because our genius showed his expertise by misplacing Israel's north on the map. Full marks to his editor, Louise Adler, also said to be born Jewish, who failed to notice this and dozens of other bloopers.

Both Messrs Lowenstein and Assange are, supposedly, journalists. Or there is a means of differentiation. Right?

Cheers

Loewenstein must hate that John Pilger and Julian Assange get all the chicks...

According to Loewenstein's notes:
"independence is vital to not be seduced by official romancing."

WTF does that even mean?

Protesters: What do we want? Less seduction by official romancing. When do we want it? Now!

His other clanger is great:
"our governments lie to us every day and now we have the evidence to prove it."

Oh really? Must have missed it.

Of course politicians are liars. Frankly, so is Antony. Wikileaks has been embarrassing, mainly because of its volume. Not because it's some kind of smoking gun. If anything, it vindicates much of what the governments have done in the last few years.

As always, Loewenstein will ignore facts and evidence, insisting that he's right. And that you should buy his book.

He is sending out a warning to those so-called human rights activists who go to the West Bank and impregnate the local women (who sometimes then become victims of honour killings) to follow his example and not Assange's - i.e don't shtoop the locals and if you have to then wear a bloody condom.

Well of course AL doesn't admit he's wrong - he's not a journalist.
