ABC News: analysis or opinion?
ABC News today publishes via The Drum an "sober analysis" of events in Egypt provided by an independent journalist in Sydney with an axe to grind who offers no special insights or inside knowledge but rather regurgitates views promulgated by anti-western pundits plus information from the mainstream media, this information already known by everyone who is reasonably well-informed.
The "analysis" is not only shallow, it's especially poorly written:
The "analysis" is not only shallow, it's especially poorly written:
Talking about a truly independent Middle East requires an imagination solely lacking in establishment political circles."Analysis" at The Drum is sorely lacking. That's our ABC.
5 Comments:
The Drum is ripe for getting punk'd.
They'd probably publish anything half-readable so long as it pandered to one of their favourite tried-and-true fashionable Leftist narratives.
Not sayin'. Just sayin'.
The Drum. Where you go when even Crikey has woken up to you.
Loewenstein gets the scoop!
His article boasts "Indeed, Australian citizen Mamdouh Habib, who spoke exclusively to me last night, knows this reality well."
EXCLUSIVE!!!
Translation: Nobody else gives a shit about what Mamdouh Habib thinks, but Antony has him on speed dial and didn't know anyone else who'd ever been to Egypt.
Can't wait for Antony's in-depth exclusive with Keysar Trad.
Dan,
Loewenstein published the same piece in Crikey on Friday* but said "Crikey spoke exclusively to Habib last night in Sydney ..."
I'm confused.
Did Habib speak exclusively to Crikey, or exclusively to Loewenstein the blogger, or exclusively to Loewenstein the Drum correspondent?
I guess it doesn't matter. After all, anyone who relies on Habib as a credible source on anything can have Habib all to himself.
* No, I'm not a paying subscriber, but it does shame me to admit I read some Crikey on Friday, hence this anonymous post.
"Hi, it's Antony calling from Crikey..."
