Apology
I owe ABC online editor Jonathan Green an apology after yesterday criticising him for promoting Alene Composta's nonsensical smear article but then failing to note the article's steathy removal. Green is obviously a very busy man as his Twitter activity indicates:
for the first time since 2003 RT @s_bridges: I no longer have avocado in my beard.I mean, a spurious attack on Liberal politicians, replete with sexual innuendo, later unceremoniously consigned to oblivion by Green, is nowhere near as important as the food residue, or lack thereof, in the beard of former PP boy Scott Bridges, hired by Green during his editing tenure at Crikey.

Spare Mr Green your sarcasm. He really was busy, very busy.
According to his tweets, he was preparing to deliver a lecture at LaTrobe University's School of Communication, where he no doubt brought the aspiring journalists up to speed on the importance of fact checking, accuracy and an unbiased critical intelligence.
Oh, and also why journalists should never use their publicly funded websites to float ridiculous stories about mooses - even political mooses that might help save his favoured political from electoral obliteration in a week or two.
Mr Green, he's the very model of a modern major journalist.
I am just speculating here but I think this Composta woman must have something more to come. Green must have communicated with Composta. Surely he didn't just scrape the moose stuff off her blog and not tell her. Did they talk on the phone or exchange e-mails? The ABC version is different from the one on her blog, which means someone editted it. Did Composta re-write it or did Green or one of his underlings make the changes?
If it was a hoax, Green should release his emails so we can see how blameless he is or how keen he was to be hoaxed. A conman can never fleece an honest man, as they say.
I think that explains Green's silence. He doesn't know what to say because he doesn't know what is coming next.
I'm Jonathan Green. I am far too busy tweeting to do any editing. See my twitter feed. See how busy I am. Busy busy busy.
