GERMAN-CANADIAN HYBRID MONSTERS

Somehow it doesn't seem right that a German-Canadian partnership has produced a trio of killer four-wheel drives:

The Jetta is powered by a 550-hp 3.2-liter twin-turbo V6 paired to a Haldex 4Motion all-wheel-drive system and VW Group’s DSG paddle-shift transmission. The Touareg has a similar powertrain with 500 hp. But the undisputed king of grunt is the Passat with 575 hp.

Who in their right mind would buy one of these resource-devouring, atmosphere-destroying atrocities? Anyone want to lend me a few bucks?
