TIM LAMBERT AGREES WITH TIM BLAIR!
Geoffrey Lean's claim that global warming has "for the first time washed an inhabited island off the face of the Earth," already debunked by Tim Blair, has been fact-checked and given the thumb down by Tim Lambert:
Update: J.M. Heinrichs notes that as a mere journalist Blair relies on news items as sources whereas scientist Lambert bases his writing on "real data." Commenter JB observes that journalists are often wrong because they are inclined to trust single sources.
Lambert supports his claim, that rising sea level is forcing Tuvaluans to flee, by linking to this unscientific single source. If you read through it you'll note that Tuvaluans have no illusions about why they are leaving: they're seeking a better life in New Zealand.
When commenter moptop challenges Lambert's Tuvaluans-are-fleeing assumptions Lambert responds:
So it is wrong to blame Global Warming for the disappearance of Lohachara island. It's unclear exactly why global warming true believer Lambert put so much effort into proving Lean wrong, especially since Lambert recently incorrectly claimed Tuvaluans are fleeing to New Zealand to escape inundation by rising seas. He should start fact-checking himself.

moptop, sea levels at Tuvalu are rising and people are leaving the island as a result. Maybe they are wrong to be concerned, but maybe they know more about the situation than you do?So, where's the data?

They see "themselves as climate refuges"? With one 'e'? Wait, I thought they were supposed to be using New Zealand as a refuge from the climate? Or erosion, or gravity, or whatever?
