DETAINED BRITISH FORCES CAPTURED IN IRAQI WATERS


The British continue to maintain their forces were seized in Iraqi waters:

The 15 British service personnel captured by Iran were 1.7 nautical miles inside Iraqi territorial waters when they were "ambushed", the Ministry of Defence insisted today.

At a briefing in London, the MoD said it "unambiguously contested" claims from Tehran that the UK vessel carrying the sailors and marines had strayed into Iranian waters.

Regardless, there isn't much the British can do beyond nicely asking that their personnel be released.
