New Topics About Which he knows Nothing
It's not just Israel about which Antony Loewenstein is clueless.
Your tax dollars paid for The ABC's Drum to feature Antony, talking for a change about something other than eeeevil Israel.
Media expert Loewenstein appears to have confused daily newspapers, with the broader print media.
I would welcome an inquiry into why Australian taxpayer money funds programming that includes clueless idiots with a long history of incompetence and dishonesty.
For what it's worth, Antony is in esteemed company having made the same error about Rupert Murdoch's media ownership, that Bob Brown did. See also: Blair's Law.

Finally, the announcement of a media inquiry is welcome but it appears the main issue will be absent; an investigation into ownership and power of the moguls. It’s unsurprising that the Labor government is scared to seriously tackle the Murdoch thugocracy in Australia – why should one family control 70% of our print media? One family doesn't control 70% of our print media.

Ownership may be something else, but one can learn to handle moguls here: http://momentumcamps.com/cs/terrain/mogul/
Cheers

That's a pretty weak nit-pick, Lieutenant Dan. Especially coming from the numpty who told us that Rupert Murdoch owns Facebook.
Dear Anonymous coward (who is too stupid to follow the instructions in a section labelled "READ THIS BIT" above where he entered his pointless comment,
It is not a weak point at all. Print media is a lot more diverse than merely the dailies. Loewenstein, having barely held down a job in the media, is also incapable of basic fact checking. Put bluntly, he got it wrong. Not that I ever expect Loewenstein to issue a correction on anything. Ever. He has a long history of errors and cover-up of some of them.
Now you're obviously going to continue to go on about that minor error I made, so let's deal with that. Firstly, it was trivial and I certainly didn't make the mistake as an invited guest of the national (taxpayer funded) broadcaster. Secondly, when I realised my mistake, I immediately corrected it. So I'm not sure what exactly your point was (something about weak nitpicking) but congratulations, anonymous coward (who's too stupid. etc. etc.) you've made it well.
This blog allows commenters to comment anonymously, and that's what I choose to do. You have other anonymous commenters here, so how is it "cowardly"? If it bothers you so, take it up with your guru Beck and ask him to change the settings. Otherwise STFU and stop your incessant whinging.
Secondly, ask most people what they consider the "print media" to be and they'll say "newspapers". Sure, technically it's broader than that. But that's all it is: a technicality. Unlike your, ahem, "minor error", which showed that you had no idea who owns a major global corporation.
Seriously, if you wankers want to spend your days flinging dirt and minor chumlies like Ant, at least find something worth actually blogging about. Your daily prattling about him is 20% valid and 80% pathetic.
Signed,
