Rapists without Borders

Expert evidence that an Afghan refugee didn't fully comprehend the meaning of sexual consent when he raped two women has been rejected by a Victorian judge.

Esmatullah Sharifi was jailed for 14 years for raping the two women, who were both intoxicated, within a five-day period.

Sharifi pleaded guilty to one count of rape over a 2008 attack on an 18-year-old woman he picked up outside a nightclub when she was drunk.

He was jailed in 2009 for nine and a half years for another rape committed five days after that attack, on Christmas Day.
It was a cultural thing...
The court heard Sharifi suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of his Shi'ite Muslim family, from the Hazara ethnic minority, being persecuted by the Taliban, who had killed his father.

Sharifi fled to Pakistan and came to Australia on a temporary protection visa in 2001.
And someone approved this guy's residency.

More worrying is that at least one well paid, university trained 'expert' wrote a report (fortunately rejected) that the accused didn't fully understand the meaning of consent. This expert that wrote this should have it displayed on the I ternet so we know never to rely on his expert opinions. No doubt however he will continue as a highly paid expert sought out by defence solicitors.

Dan, can you explain how you logically get from violent persecution and trauma to "a cultural thing"?

And what makes the granting of temporary protection relevant? Do you expect someone who's assessing an asylum case to also miraculously predict whether the claimant will commit a crime in the future?

"It's a cultural thing" has already been used by the Pakistani-rapist-sons-of-a-doctor in Australia.

Australia ought to take in many many more refugees. There are many millions whose lives could be improved by migration to Australia. All they need now is to make it to our shores for processing.

Of course there will be a higher rate of crime among these culture-enrichers as they will have previously suffered so much stress and trauma. But this is a price worth paying as it will be paid by bogans who live out in the western suburbs, not the intelligentsia of the trendy upper class suburbs who will thrill at the moral perfection of their superlative consciences.

Whatever, hammygar.

The fact is that government policy now means that anyone making it to Australia gets to be processed here. That means an unlimited number of refugees may be catered for. It is also a positive inducement for people to take a risky voyage. And if they die en route as many do, the attitude of the Greens who support this policy is that shit happens.

The only reason the Greens and their trendy upper middle class supporters advocate this destructive policy is that it makes their shriveled lefty souls feel good. It can't be for any humanitarian reason given how many are killed in the process.

I'm not against taking in refugees. Indeed we can take in a lot more. What we need to do is acknowledge that there is a cost to this. If it is going to be done properly we need to integrate them. We need to knock off the rough bits of their of their cultural values, learn from the good bits, but we shouldn't adopt a stupid cultural relativism nor pretend that misogynistic, homophobic, primitive, narrow-minded, or supremacist ideas have any place here.

Multiculturalism leads to tribalism, to an increase in anti-semitism, to clerics who refer to young women as "uncovered meat" and to gangs of "youths" (as if their distinguishing feature was their age rather than their rotten values)targeting young Australian women for rape. It leads to forced cousin marriages of teenage girls and jihadists planning terror attacks.

And what do the idiot left do about this? They jump on board with the ratbags, change the law to criminalise the ridicule of religion and organise screaming mobs outside synagogues.

So yeah, hammygar, lets not talk about any of this. You just make a trite sarcastic comment and move on. At least until you are mugged by a Sudanese gang, I suppose. But even then you will probably find a way to blame the country you appear hate so much and the values that have thus far made it great.
