Heh. We have these wonderful Japanese sharp knives at home, but my husband won't let me sharpen them very often because of the incident when I cut the top of my finger off. It's okay, though, the doctor stuck it back on, and it healed well - partly, I'm sure, because the cut was so clean.
Füri knives are designed by a Brisbane engineer. They are excellent -- I've used the 17cm "East/West" scalloped pretty much every night for about 4 years, and it's only now starting to waer down. Get the edge setting tool too, if you can find one.Damon
My knife sharpener looks like a bunch of interleaved washers with a handle. Got it at the $2 shop. Works a treat but it curls off a bit of metal from your knife so life expectancy of your blade might be shorter...
