Financially strapped students go on crime spree

A group of Melbourne students (Xavier College, yearly fees roughly AU$18,000 [US$15,630]) visiting New Zealand on a school excursion shoplifted AU$6,000 in goods on the last day of their trip. The targeted shop, R&R Sport, sells snow skiing gear and clothing.

So here we have a group of unfortunate boys who, after their parents spent thousands on schooling and excursions, probably fear that they might have to hit Australia's slopes wearing last season's apparel. The poor lads had no choice but to steal, really.
