OMG
Pursuant to the death of Osama bin Laden, best-selling Author and Middle East expert Antony Loewenstein reports on the death of uh... Some guy.
Wow.
Just....Wow.
Screencap here for when he quietly corrects yet another embarrassingly amateurish effort.
Loewenstein also believes that the killing of Osama bin Laden constitutes "murder".
This chucklehead is taken seriously by "our ABC" and the Fairfax press.
Update 2: Loewenstein wants the ABC to believe it as well:
On past form I didn't expect superior journalist Loewenstein to admit to his error, much less post a correction. But would it kill him to say thank you?
Update 3: I've corrected a broken link above which contained some broken HTML. Not the most heinous of blogging errors, but I wanted to demonstrate to certain people, how easy it is to post a correction.

Update 4: Maybe OBM referred to "Of Blessed Memory" a traditional Jewish honorific used when naming and speaking of the deceased. Antony is of course the only 'Good Jew' around (just ask the ABC) so clearly he was bestowing the honour he feels Oba...Osama deserved.
The official, New York Times approved version of OBM's deathMaybe he meant Obama?
Wow.

Update 2: Loewenstein wants the ABC to believe it as well:
I appeared tonight on ABCTV News’ The Drum talking about Osama Bin Laden’s murder and its ramifications, alongside Australian Financial Review journalist David Crowe, US Studies Centre Dr Pete Hatemi (formerly in the US military post 9/11) and former CNN correspondent Michael Ware (here’s partial video of the show, mainly featuring the intrepid Ware).[ed- and not the incompetent Loewenstein]Update: Due to overwhelming sales and popularity, his earlier post has been released in a "Second Edition" which (ahem) updates certain details.

Ant L didn't just change to fix up his mistake, but also deleted a comment pointing it out to him.His ego should have its own website.

Looks like Beck chose the wrong week to take a break from blogging...
Yeah, just... Wow! Loewy hit the M key instead of the L key! Thank heavens you were able to recover the presence of mind to capture this stunning event. Lesser souls would still be picking themselves up off the floor.
Ah yes. The old "it was a typo" defence.
Of course the same (ahem) typo (cough) was Tweeted by our talented young writer friend as well. Unlike his blog, it's much harder to rewrite history on Twitter. Standby for a deleted tweet when he realises...
Obama's initials are BHO. Have to admit that's quite a typo, on a par with Andrew Bolt saying Rudd was axed in 2007. But the blockhead is still taken seriously by News Corp and Network Ten.
I wouldn't dream of trying to discourage your trooth seeking, but what is it precisely that you think you've scooped here?
Ant L didn't just change to fix up his mistake, but also deleted a comment pointing it out to him.
He is by far the most strictest censor in Australian blogging today.
What a hypocrite.
And totalitarian.
A spelling mistake?
Always first with the big stories.
ANT is a UBI*. What makes it worse is that he does not realise that the ABC is using him as such.
* Useful Bloody Idiot.
Lowenstien should be careful talking about murder.
The L key and the M key are about 20mm apart on the keyboard.
Maybe that USN SEAL operative experienced similar finger trouble.
The trigger on an Uzi semi-automatic and the safety catch are also about 20mm apart.
Maybe the USN guy, seeing OBL (aka OBM) was unarmed, was just trying to set his weapon to safe and reach for the cuffs when BLAM!! OOPS!
Anonymous coward at 10:35am.
There is a difference between a spelling error, and gross incompetence followed up with intellectual dishonesty and hypocrisy. All of which have been demonstrated.
Despite all of the above endearing qualities, Antony is still considered appropriate for 'our ABC'.
Ant supporter @ 10:35...
This is about a person paid to write professionally (and who is politically motivated) perpetrating on a daily basis the worst incompetence as a writer - both in terms of spelling, syntax and basic style - and who erases any evidence or criticism when pointed out.
You don't like it, so harden the fuck up is my advice.
Oh he can't hide the booboo, it's indelibly stamped into the url, remember:
http://antonyloewenstein.com/2011/05/02/the-official-new-york-times-approved-version-of-obms-death/
Bolt commonly misspells 'our' as 'out' but corrects such booboos at his own leisure without fanfare. Some of those are indelibly stamped into urls.
Big deal.
Anonymous coward at 11:53. Again, there is a difference between a typo and functional illiteracy.
Plus, the time I emailed Bolt about a typo, he wrote back thanking me profusely. I didn't even expect a reply. Loewenstein would pretend it never happened.
Of course any time you wish to compare Bolt's resume with Loewenstein's, you go right ahead.
It wasn't a typo from the tame Jew, he referred to him as OBM in not only the headline but the URL as well.
Click on the link and while he has changed the headline, without an acknowledgement, the URL still describes the death of OBM.
He made the mistake several times, so not a typo, this bonehead actually didn't know the name of the leader of Al Qaeda. At our ABC this makes him a Middle Eastern expert.
Dan, are anonymous posters who agree with you Anonymous Heroes?
Beck a while ago said:
"Editing Note: I chronically transpose letters in certain words, poison [which Beck had 'transposed' as 'posion'], for example."
Which is another way of saying:
"I chronically make errors of gross incompetence."
Dan, yuor'e a cemplote tawt.
