If you liked the protests against Israeli company Max Brenner you will love our Israeli Apartheid inc corporate tour of companies complicit in Palestinian oppression.

As part of the global Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, Students for Palestine is beginning 2012 by taking on corporations in Melbourne's CBD that support the theft of Palestinian land and the brutality of the Israeli military.

We will begin our tour in the Bourke St Mall and then end at Max Brenner.

Look out for the Tour Guides dressed in Palestinian colours.

Meanwhile, in Syria this week:

roads in and out of the besieged suburb of Baba Amr, in the south-east of Homs, were blocked, preventing the evacuation of children and the wounded, and food, water and medicine were running out.

Speaking at an international gathering in Sweden, the British prime minister, David Cameron, said: "It is quite clear this is a regime hell-bent on killing, murdering and maiming its own citizens … we need to take the toughest possible response we can."

More than 100 people were reported dead in Homs on Thursday during heavy bombardment by government forces, but that figure could not be independently confirmed in the absence of observers or humanitarian organisations. A local resident, Basil Abu Fouad, said it was impossible to estimate casualties accurately.

"We can't count the number of the dead in the rubble. When we pull someone from the rubble, we don't know if they were killed today, yesterday or before," Abu Fouad said by phone from a basement in Baba Amr.

"They are using helicopters and mortars and tanks, T-72 [former Soviet] tanks. Hundreds of homes have been demolished and they have come down on the heads of their owners.

"Communications have been completely cut off between neighbourhoods. The army have blocked access to the city. Some people tried to escape but they found all the roads were closed. There is no food left in the city. We don't have milk. All the water tanks have been targeted. We don't have medicines. If you go to the shops and try to get in, the snipers up on the roofs will shoot you," he said.

"The children will die here. All the people want is to escape. They can smash this place if they want. We just want to get out of there. But they won't allow us."

Dani Abdul Dayan, a resident of the Insha'at, next to Baba Amr, claimed the army had taken over the Hikma hospital, expelled doctors and was using the patients as human shields. The claim could not be verified.

In Homs, Abu Fouad said the security council veto had given the regime a green light to commit genocide against the Syrian people. "The whole world is against us. Nobody is helping us," he said, before the electricity failed. "There is nothing left but to pray."

When Muslims kill Muslims, and there are no Jews involved, nobody cares. Enjoy your boycott kiddies. Don't forget to chant stuff about "justice" and "genocide"...

Somewhere, deep inside Socialist Resistance headquarters, probably in between the archived anti-Bush and Howard puppets and "Land Rights for Gay Whales" placards is a whole section of signage, banners and placards against Israel.

Several of these state "End the Occupation". They are never entirely honest about which bit of "the occupation" they are referring to. Some would claim it's the land outside the 1967 armistice line, e.g. Gaza (occupied solely by Palestinians and terror groups) and the West Bank. however when they start shouting "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free" it becomes clear they are referring to all of the land of Israel, and thus oppose (as Hamas does) Jews 'occupying' any space whatsoever.

How confusing it must have been for career Israel-haters to attend the latest Jew-hating mob rally outside Max Brenner in Melbourne. Watch from 1 minute and 30 seconds in.

Antony Loewenstein is organising a "Focus Group" to discuss why the BDS movement might not be viewed kindly by parliamentarians and the media.

One idea likely not to be discussed, is that the BDS movement is antisemitic and violent. Sure, they will insist that they are only anti-Israel (even though calling for boycotts of Jewish businesses) but take a look at them lest there be any remaining doubt.

That refers to the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean sea. That is, the entire Jewish state. Forget two peoples living side-by-side in peace. No, they want the area free of Jews. Like Hamas.

Amazingly, these people who cheer the murder of Jews have the gall to accuse their opponents of being "Neo-Nazis" in the video's title. The only placard missing from their demonstration was "Tonight we're gonna party like it's 1939".

Interestingly, the video shows one person wearing a T-shirt from the Australian Protectionist Party. One. Yet Loewenstein has run with this, deriding the Jewish Community as being in bed with fascist organisations.

Does Zionist lobby feel comfortable with fascists [plural -ed] marching alongside them for Israel? [they were standing still, actually -ed]

It would seem so, as I’ve read no con­dem­na­tion by the lobby of the far-right sup­port­ing Max Bren­ner at a protest in Syd­ney and Mel­bourne over the week­end. Being “pro-Is­rael” clearly trumps de­cency, strate­gic depth or human rights:

The Jewish Community has a pretty good record for opposing fascism. What it is they are supposed to "condemn" on this occasion is unclear. I doubt they sent a limo to pick the fellow up. For what it's worth he seemed a lot better behaved than the people across the road spitting "Fucking Jew" at Daphne's correspondent. Which side of the road do you think the Police preferred being on?

Naturally Loewenstein has never expressed concern about huge numbers of Hamas and Hezbollah supporters turning up at protests which he has addressed. Again and again to the point where Arab and Green-Left protest organisers now specifically engage crowd marshals to pull down swastikas and similar signs.

The organisers of the Sydney march were at some pains to insist that the march confine itself to attacks on the state terror of the Israeli war machine and avoid anti-Semitic attacks on Jews. I saw the very tough and seasoned Arab community marshalls very effectively encouraging one protester to take down a placard that could be seen as an attack on Jews, and after some argument the protester complied. This approach of focusing the political attack on Israeli state terror rather than on Jewish people is both principled and strategically necessary

Not being an antisemite in public is apparently good strategy.

I can only wonder how one becomes qualified as a "tough and seasoned Arab community marshall".
