BALLS OF STEEL

The BBC's Jonathan Beale is keeping an online diary as he travels with the Bush entourage:
This morning, we witnessed the president's welcoming ceremony on the first day of his first visit to India.

According to the President he'd never experienced such a well organised and grand reception.

He clearly had not experienced the chaos that greeted the travelling press.

I suppose with a population of more than a billion people there's every reason to employ so many security guards. But with the added presence of the US Secret Service, it all seemed a bit over the top.
If security's not "over the top" Bush could easily end up under the ground:
At least four people, including a US diplomat, have been killed and many more injured in a bomb attack near the US consulate in Karachi, Pakistan.

"The car flew through the air and fell on the other side of a seven-foot-high wall," an unnamed policeman told AFP.

A bomb disposal expert said it was one of the most powerful explosions the city had seen. It left a crater 2m (six feet) deep.
Yep, Bush is taking a real risk here.
