Abandoned Ady Gil still afloat

Photos taken by Japanese whalers show an abandoned Ady Gil still afloat in the Southern Ocean, apparently leaking fuel. Some debris was recovered, including a number of arrows obviously intended for a bit of casual archery practice during lulls in the whale protection chase.

It is truly shocking that media whore Paul Watson lied about the fate of the Ady Gil. Shocking. Really shocking.

Update: Rachel Baird, described by The Australian as an "international law expert", has some suggestions for the government:

As the Rudd government came under increasing pressure for failing to carry out its election promise to launch legal action to halt Japanese whaling, Dr Baird said the government had jeopardised diplomacy by failing to condemn the high seas harassment of Japanese ships by the anti-whaling activists.

"They don't act with any authority of the Australian government so it's important the Australian government distances itself from the actions of the Sea Shepherd," Dr Baird said.

"I don't think there has been enough emphasis on that."

Sea Shepherd's self-righteous sea-hippies have no authority to act at all and should be condemned for creating the conflict situations that endanger lives.
