Mother nature sends thank you card to Japan for sinking Ady Gil

The Ady Gil (formerly Earthrace) is, oops, was, like a marine Ferrari, fast and nimble. Designed for speed, she was fitted with twin Mercruiser diesel engines producing a total of 1080 horsepower, which could propel her 13 tons to 45 knots. In contrast, the Shonan Maru 2 that ran her down weighs close to 500 tons and is powered by a low speed diesel producing some 1,100 horsepower.

And like a Ferrari the Ady Gil, even though dubbed an "eco-boat", was, with a fuel efficiency even worse than the infamous Range Rover, not exactly environmentally friendly. Thus we can all sleep better knowing that the Ady Gil is now providing a home for bottom-dwelling Antarctic sea creatures rather than continuing to destroy our atmosphere and climate.
