Crikey blogger adopts assumed identity to hassle Andrew Bolt
Crikey blogger Jeremy Sear not only comments here anonymously in support of himself, he also pops up under an assumed name – Jeff of Mulgrave – to hassle Andrew Bolt on the radio.
Compare "Jeff's" comments on the situation in Libya here (at 32:30) to Sear's commentary in the latest Pure Poison podcast to confirm that the voice does indeed belong to Jeremy. Also, "Jeff" makes the same points on air made by Jeremy in writing at his personal blog.
Anonymous commenting and using an assumed identity are underhanded ways for a contributor to a "news" site with mainstream aspirations – Crikey – to attack ideological opponents. What's going on here, Jeremy?

Fake comments. Fake names. Are even his cats real?
What a little scumbag if if true.
Couldn't have been Sear. Jeff of Mulgrave failed to score a hit on a single point he made. A trained barrister would have eaten Bolt alive.
If Jezza comments here by pretending to be someone else, and if he calls radio stations using the name Jeff, how many other fake ID's is he using?
I do believe we have finally uncovered the real Alene Composta!
BREAKING: Right wing blogger demands that talk show callers be fully identified before being allowed on air. Massive reform of talk radio industry sought.
Anonymous commenters on right wing blogger's site express outrage at people not identifying themselves.
Well spotted JF!!!!
Oh I think that the 5.55 comment must be Jeremy!
I am an anonymous blogger, but I use the same name everywhere so as not to pretend to be 10 different people
Spot on Chistery. Brilliantly said. You're awesome.
Thanks, Chisteremey.
Oh, by the way anonymous Jeremy 5.55, Julia has admitted on Q&A that she broke her carbon tax promise. This kind of exposes the stupidity of your 'carbon price is not a carbon tax so Julia didn't lie' defense, doesn't it?
That Jeremy.
Keri is not keeping him busy enough and he has to resort to things like that to keep himself occupied.
Why are you so surprised that Jeremy Sear would not use his real name on talkback radio? He has a right to anonymity and to protect his job as a top notch barrister. Why, if he had to say who he is it might harm him. That's why I post as Bridgit Gread, btw. I wouldn't want Fairfax to Fairf*ck me over the things I say and do on the Internet behind their backs.
Jeremy recently spoke with John Faine and Neil Mitchell as Alistair from South Yarra, but I'm the real Jeff of Mulgrave and you can call me on

Jeff of Mulgrave,
I clicked on your name.
I take back what I said about Chistery.
You are the awesome one.
That is hilarious.
Huh.
What happened to, "Hi! It's Jeremy, from Crikey!" ?
"When you have a professional organisation to name when you contact the person - when you can say "It's Jeremy from Crikey" - then it seems that you actually have a duty to do so."
By the way, the link on "here" in "Jeff's" comments on the situation in Libya here (at 32:30)" takes me to today's (the 15th's) broadcast. "Jeff's" comment was on the 14th, which can be downloaded from here. Cheers.
So, is this an admission?
"LOL. Apparently asking a question of a polemicist on talkback radio is "hassling" them. #idiots "

Knowing he reads this, Sear/Jeff, care to comment on the similarity between sockpuppeting (which is apparently an example of Pure Poison) and calling under a fake name?
Lattecat,
Once upon a time 'LOL' meant you actually found a comment humorous.
Now it just means "Standby, a smug prick is about to say something"
Funny how languages evolve.
Jeremy,
You seem to have missed the point (surprise). You were not "hassling" Bolt because you used an assumed name. You were hassling Bolt and using an assumed name. The question is, why would you do that given you've been hassling Bolt using your real name for a long time? Why did you not want to declare your real name to Andrew when speaking to him directly? Are you a coward?

It seems that s\Sear has now deleted that comment from twitter. Hmm one can only wonder why...
It's still there, Iain. Try again.
He'd be a moron to delete it once attention has been called to it, he'd have to know screen-caps would be taken in case he does just that.
Only the lowest of the low would troll under a pretend name.
Hey, I may be anonymous, but at least I'm no pig.
Jeremy Sear's hypocrisy in relation to this is exposed here: http://iainhall.ozblogistan.com.au/index.php/archives/10675
There's no point in dragging my mistress into this.
A storm in a tea-cup!
Good catch, JF - might have been more fun to let Bolt know and catch him out next time.
