Troubled Waters

An error prone blogger finds a famous name too difficult:
Roger Water, once of Pink Floyd fame, has become a high-profile supporter of Palestinian rights and endorser of BDS...
Roger Waters, still of Pink Floyd fame, does indeed have a diffcult name.

"once of Pink Floyd fame"

So he's no longer of Pink Floyd fame? Maybe he was only rumoured to be in the band?

Now that Water or Waters has linked up with the Palestinian BDS movement and the Jew killers associated with it (see the massacre of a family of five Jews including three children at Itamar while they slept) Pink Floyd is no longer famous - it's infamous.

ar,

Roger Waters quit Pink Floyd in the 1980's. There have been at least four albums released since then. So the 'once of Pink Floyd fame' seems valid to me.

Christery,

Then the writer should say, "once of Pink Floyd". Or just "ex-Pink Floyd". Why is it up to the reader to work out WTF he's trying to say?

I just tried to say out loud "once of Pink Floyd fame" and it's not something that rolls of the tongue. Admittedly after three beers, but it's even more evidence, if needed, of the writer torturing sentences.
