Australians beware! Paint derived from the waste of nuclear power plants (or something!) is going to kill us all! There is a massive corporate conspiracy to irradiate us (and poison our fillings and vaccines)! It has happened before! Also beware of the radiation emitting lightstick masquerading as a child's toy! Everyone under your beds!

Heh......that thread has an incredible mixture of good science and sheer numbskullery. Although I have to admit, some of it is tongue-in-cheek as well.
(Radioactive olives....heh!)
On a serious note....I've always snickered at the concern over radiation. I like pointing out that the (natural!) background radiation from some rocks (e.g., granite) is higher than some nuclear waste.
For example, parts of the US Capital have a higher background radiation than some nuclear facilities.
That radioactive olives comments is dead serious: olives do accumulate radioactive substances but not to any great degree.
I don't doubt that olives are radioactive, JF. It's part of that "tongue in cheek" mode I saw in that thread.
Everytime this nuclear issue is raised, you'll see people crying disaster and not in my back yard.
i wonder if we'll get them.
